Our Itinerary
Let me tell you a little about our itinerary.
We start the journey (after 2 days of air travel) in Namibia. We will be on a 10 day camping safari that takes us through the dunes and coastal region, and Etosha National park.
Then we are in Cape Town, S Africa for a few days site seeing...and re grouping and cleaning out after the safari. By that I mean, doing loads of laundry!
We'll rent a car and spend a week driving up the Garden Route, along the eastern coast of S Africa. We'll have adventures, like zip lining and riding elephants, and leisurely days exploring.
Then on to The Cradle of Human Kind, outside of J'Burg. Our final adventure in Africa will be staying along the Zambezi River in Zambia and seeing Victoria Falls.
Our next stop is Istanbul! We stay in the old city for 5 days and explore the tourist attractions...the Blue Mosque, the Bosporus as well as the back streets and Grand Bizarre. Turkish coffee, Turkish baths and hopefully some Whirling Dervishes!
A week's kayaking trip off the coast of Croatia is next. We are staying on Lopud, part of the Elaphite Island Chain NW of Dubrovnik.
We end our trip in Italy. We'll start in Rome and make our way north. We'll eat alot, walk alot, and hopefully not be too bothered by the scorching August temperatures.
August 18, we head back to the states. We visit my parents in Duxbury for a few days...and then we come home to Mill Valley.
Its hard to believe we are really doing this! We've been planning it for so long...and its felt pretty abstract.
I'm getting excited!

7 days and counting
June 4, 2013
1
week until we are on board UA926 to Frankfurt! Bags stored
in overhead compartments. Door closed. Beverage tray locked in upright
position. Seat back up.
What is that going to feel like?!!
We've been thinking about, planning, talking about this trip for over a year. And now its a mere 7 days away!
So, are we ready?
Not Quite.
Will we be in 7 days?
As my friend Stuart says, You BetCha!
